I got a closet organizer out of storage after 15 years. the darn thing is all sticky, what's the best goo re?

March 18th, 2009

remover. I tried windex, that green stuff that smells like a church bathroom, alchol, bleach cleaner, and dishwasher detergent. what should do the job without removing the paint. The organizer is metal wire racking with a white paint over the top, made by closetmaid. thanks for all the help. (I was thinking goo off or carb cleaner)

Goo Gone-it's awesome! Spray it on, let it soak for a few seconds then wipe off. Repeat as necessary. Then do a quick wipe down with warm dishwater on a rag to get the Goo Gone off (kinda oily). It's not harmful to most surfaces and it smells great (like oranges). Found at Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, etc. Basically where ever cleaning supplies are sold.

Are Closetmaid wire closet organizers sturdy and a good value or are they a waste of money?

March 11th, 2009

I have a 6' reach in closet that has just a shelf and a bar going from one side to the other, but this is a waste of space for me. I want something with shelves to put bags on and maybe something for shoes as well. Would one of the Closetmaid wire organizers (suitable for a 6' closet) be a good value for me to buy or are they a waste of money? I can't tell if they'd be sturdy or just junk and I can't find any reviews online. I'm also looking at the Closetmaid laminate tower starter kit and Rubbermaid's wire closet kits. What's the best? Thanks.

I have them. They are sturdy, and work great!

Where to find closet organizer?

March 4th, 2009

does anyone know where to find a hanging mesh hamper type object? my friend has one. its tall and cylindrical with a diameter of about 1/2 foot and its like 3 feet tall. it has little cubby holes in each of the levels. PLEASE I REALLY NEED SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO ORGANZE MY CLOSET

I would try one of three places: Home Depot, Target or Walmart. They usually have those kinds of things at a reasonable price

Installing a closet organizer?

February 18th, 2009

We have just recently moved and I want to install the closet organizers that I have taken from our old house. Recently I've been seeing ads on tv where they use glue instead of screws on things. There's a commercial where they glue a basketball net up on the front of a house (instead of bolting or screwing on) and the kid hangs off it.
If I need to attach support pieces in my closet, should I simply glue them right to the drywall? Will the glue & support bars / pieces simply rip off from the drywall?

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I'm kind of skeptical about the glue thing. I think it would be best to install them the way the manufacturer meant for them to be installed.

Vitra Polder XL Sofa

February 18th, 2009

A couple of weeks ago we ordered a Vitra Polder XL sofa for a client. It was the client’s idea, and even though it totally mucked up the design direction, I was thrilled because I have always admired the design of this sofa by my favorite designer Hella Jongerius. The design of the houseâ?¦
