I'm kind of skeptical about the glue thing. I think it would be best to install them the way the manufacturer meant for them to be installed.
References :
Well, it's a thought, but there are all kinds of commercials that say they can do this or that and the facts is that we just don't know until we try it. I remember when super glue used to have a man holding on to a hard hat that was glued to a steel beam and it was holding him off the ground. I think we've all discovered by now that super glue is about worthless. There is Gorilla glue that claims to be the strongest and I've used it, but I don't know if it is the strongest. I would guess that it would not work for the simple fact that the drywall is covered with paper and would probably rip under the weight. I would go with the screws in the studs.
Good Luck
References :
The drywall will not be strong enough to support the 100's of pounds of weight that will be on these organizers from your clothing and other possessions. You need to make sure that the screws or other fasteners you are using to support this organizer are firmly inserted into the studs in the wall. The studs are much stronger than the drywall alone and should support all of the weight with no problem. Remeber that the face of drywall is pretty much only a paper coating.
References :
Construction Project Coordinator
